Collaborative Research Program for a DHA Redevelopment Project
Housing policy is public health policy: where people live, who people live and interact with, and what people’s neighborhoods look like affect health in multiple ways.
Denver’s Sun Valley Public Housing community is currently being developed through a Department of Housing and Urban Development-funded Choice Neighborhoods Initiative grant, and health improvements are a central focus of the redevelopment project.
Understanding these health effects is a top priority for DHA and its community partners, and reporting on these outcomes is a requirement for DHA under the redevelopment grants. While they are collecting and compiling data from surveys and other sources, they have limited resources to conduct data analysis and produce comprehensive reports.
Members of CU Anschutz, CSU, and CNI have formed a partnership focused on defining joint objectives, measuring and analyzing key outcomes in a robust way, and leveraging these results to serve the interests of multiple stakeholders, including residents and project implementers and funders.
This webinar will highlight best practices for this type of interdisciplinary, community-engaged research partnership to examine the impacts of redevelopment on health and social outcomes.
