Creating Coalitions for Sustainable Equity

Community development corporations (CDCs) are 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations that revitalize and support communities. The Fairmount Indigo CDC Collaborative, in the City of Boston, is a coalition of CDCs that sought greater equity through: 1) increased affordable housing, 2) excellent public transit, 3) sustainability innovations, 4) expanded open space and opportunities for active living, and 5) vibrant public places. They organized local residents and businesses and coordinated action with many neighborhood partners, public agencies and social investors. This webinar discusses some of the achievements of the collaborative and some of its challenges.

Speaker: Gail Latimore is the Executive Director of Codman Square Neighborhood Development Corporation. She was a member of the original four CDC executive directors that formed the Fairmount Collaborative and continues to actively pursue the goals of equity, sustainability and economic opportunity for the neighborhoods she serves.
