Sign up today for our FREE webinar! The Camp Fire in Paradise, California, was the deadliest and most destructive wildfire in the state's history. More than 95% of the town was destroyed, with 85 casualties reported. As the grieving community faced the loss of friends, family, and neighbors, they also found themselves straining against rising insurance costs and a severe housing shortage. In this webinar, we will explore the following: 1- How can we stop this from reoccurring and rebuild safely & affordably with a suite of mitigation projects, programs, and policies. 2- As we move forward with housing projects, how can we collectively address dangers of future wildfires? 3- Current and planned mitigation efforts, including the Buffer Zone Implementation plan. This plan which uses a model which predicts the path a devastating wildfire will take when entering a community, based upon prevailing winds, soil conditions, vegetation, etc.
Wildfire and natural disasters don't discriminate. Communities with high percentages of affordable housing and disadvantaged populations are disproportionately impacted. Mitigation, done correctly and cost-effectively, can level the playing field for these communities and their residents. Speakers:
Alan Nazzaro, Program Manager for Community Resilience & Disaster Planning at RCAC
